Hoisin is a literal translation of "seafood", which is why many people, a bit out of confusion, order seafood sauce thinking that it is made from seafood. However, this is not the case, it is made from fermented soybeans, plums, vinegar, garlic and sugar.
Hoisin sauce is used, due to its sweet flavor, in very typical dishes of Asian cuisine , not only within the 5 Chinese cuisine, such as lacquered duck, spring rolls, barbecue pork, Vietnamese pho, Thai dishes, etc.
An easy recipe, one of those that doesn't need 24 hours, is to roll up a wrap, spread it with hoisin sauce, shred some duck cooked with five spices , cucumber and scallion strips and eat.
