Mahleb is the powder from the seeds of a type of cherry tree called the Santa Lucia cherry tree.
Used in Greek and Turkish cuisine in breads, sweets and cookies, its flavor is a mixture of roses with hints of dried fruits and something bitter, it leaves a memory of marzipan in the mouth and its use is half a tablespoon for every 500g of flour due to its intensity
